The Background of Qasida al-Burda
Imam al-Busiri wrote Qasida al-Burda during a difficult time in his life. He was suffering from paralysis and his body was weak. One night, he composed this poem as a prayer to Allah, asking for healing through the love of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
After finishing the poem, he recited it with deep devotion. He fell asleep and saw the Prophet in a dream. The Prophet placed his cloak (burda) on al-Busiri’s shoulders. When he woke up, he was cured. The poem became known as Qasida al-Burda, the Poem of the Cloak.
The part that begins with “Maula Ya Salli Wa Sallim” is the most famous section. It is often recited as a standalone naat in gatherings and mosques.

Maula Ya Salli Wa Sallim Full Lyrics in Urdu
